Hans Price Academy celebrated World Book Day on the 2nd March. Students took part in a Character Hunt to find and identify as many characters from books as they could and why the members of staff chose that character. One student correctly identified 44 different literary characters on the day and chose a copy of the book Ms Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children as her prize. Every student who took part was entered into a raffle and two more were awarded the book of their choice. |
Students also took part in a book based quiz during learning family and the top readers, borrowers and book enthusiasts were all invited to attend a reward party in the LRC. There was a huge buzz about books all days long. It was fantastic to overhear so many conversations about reading throughout the day and it was great to see the knowledge and passion everyone demonstrated about books and reading. This is something that we’re looking forward to building on throughout the year with continued promotion of reading for pleasure, author visits, competitions, focused reading lessons and other events. |
