I thought that the poetry slam was a great idea. It was really fun and I had a great time. It was great how the two schools worked together and came up with some great poems. It would have been better if we had more time, but I think we should do it again. - Olivia I thought the poetry slam was quite different to what I expected. Overall it was a fun day! It was a great way to celebrate World Book Day, I thought it was good how Glenn Carmichael made poetry unique and funnier than just reading out words. I will read poetry differently from now on because it’s so much more fun rapping it! - Joe |

The poetry slam was a very eventful day with the absolute legend, Glenn, who was a very enthusiastic man and he had a lot of confidence. I think I learnt a lot about being serious about things and how to perform. - Lewis I really enjoyed the poetry slam. I learnt a loads about rhyme schemes and how different poems are structured. I really enjoyed the day and it was good to work with different people. I’m really glad I had this opportunity to develop my skills. - Sam |
Look Up… Look up at the sky. Life continues on without The rumble of men. - Olivia, Malachi, Hattie, Flynn, Jay-Jay. Colour in the Air As I got my ticket I could Feel the music pounding in the Air, it was raining down With colour. As I ran my face got Splattered with paint powder. As I ran I could smell Sweat, piercing from their Bodies. As I headed towards the Finish line a wave of Wind blew the multi-coloured Powder in my face, it Felt magical. Everyone was shoving Past me trying to get to the Finish line, I was nearly there. - Chloe, Katy, Florence, Grace and Halle. Selfie I’ll never get it back, Cut me some slack. I never meant to lose it like that, All of my friends can see my mistake, I wish life could give me one more take. - Matt, Tom, Jack, Sam. Untitled Atomic bombs are dropping. All that is left is a wasteland of lies. - Carter. | Bodies Drop The fighting goes on, Each soldier dies, Everyone’s in danger As we began to cry. Day by day, Night by night, Bodies drop They see the light. Slowly but surely, Bodies pile in, I see before me, My friends crumbling within. - Jordan, Nicole, Emily and Sam Ode to Pugs I am an ugly little pug, My face may not be the best. I am a greedy little pug, To find food is my only quest. But my owner loves me. I am a dumb little pug, I'm certainly not the brightest. I am a fat little pug, And I'm certainly not the lightest. But my owner still loves me. I am a slow little pug, I can’t run along. I am a stinky little pug, I create quite a pong. But my owner still loves me. There’s a reason for this poem, For despite the fact I'm ugly, I truly love my owner, And my owner truly loves me. - Unknown These poems and others created during the day will be made into a book available in the LRC.
