The children were taken back in time to the year 1564 where they met Shakespeare and his loyal bar maid “Mrs Miggins”. They learnt about all of Shakespeare’s plays and were asked to name as many as they could. They played games like: Blind man’s bluff (a game where you get blindfolded and have to find people) and books and plays (a game of charades).
After all of this they sat down and in turn practised and performed a speech out of one of Shakespeare’s plays and were told to put emotion behind their words but some did even more then that!
Overall this was an amazing day and we hope to see this again.

In front of us was Shakespeare sat at a table with a maid lying down on the ground beside the table. Shakespeare started to wake up and realise that we were there. Also the maid awoke and started to get up as they were a bit dazed as to who we were. The man explained to Shakespeare and the maid who we were and that we were from the ‘future’. Shakespeare told us lots of facts and read out different speeches that he had written. Then we played Blind Mans Bluff to warm up for acting. Finally we had a go at reading out your own speeches that we were given and put out own interpretation on it so we could make the audience laugh. - Alex and Lauren |

When we got to the library, we went back in time to 1601 when Shakespeare was quite old and was in the middle of writing ‘A Midsummer’s Night Dream’. Shakespeare read us part of ‘A Midsummer’s Night Dream’ but it was quite confusing. He said so himself.
After we had a discussion about the script, a man who was quite big-headed, came in. He was called Richard. William Shakespeare said he was a very good actor, one of the best. Shakespeare then got Richard to read out the script for ‘A Midsummers Night Dream.’ In ‘A Midsummer’s Night Dream’, Shakespeare wanted Richard to be a donkey. At first, Richard wasn’t keen on the idea but Shakespeare persuaded him to play the part.
We then played some games like they used to in the theater the first game we played was blind man’s bluff and what we had to do was someone had to wear a blindfold and walk around and the people without a blindfold on had 5 seconds to run. We weren’t allowed to hide under tables or shelves though *sad face*. But then the person with the blindfold on had to go round the room and the first person they touched first would have to answer a question about Shakespeare or Tudor England.

Yesterday we went to the library for two lessons p3 and p4. We went back in time , then we saw Shakespeare sleeping in a chair and Mrs Miggins was asleep on the floor. Shakespeare was talking to us about his life. Then he did some acting on his own. Shakespeare’s friend came. We had to stand up and clap. We played some games, did some acting and all sorts of things. - Samantha and Ellie |

Yesterday in third and fourth period we went into the library to do a Shakespeare day. It involved drama, games, talking and questions and answers. First of all we had to sit on the floor while a man told us that we were going to travel in time, back to 1601. We ‘arrived’ at a pub in London and saw Shakespeare and his maid, Mrs Miggins. They were both asleep because they had drunk so much alcohol. When they had woken up, Shakespeare told us he was in the middle of writing A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Then his best actor came and Shakespeare told him he wanted him to play a donkey in a play!
Next we played Blind man’s bluff: it was really funny. After that we had a chat, then we had to get into groups of up to eight. We got given a speech from one of Shakespeare’s plays. Ours was Two Gentlemen of Verona. It was Launce’s speech and it was a comedy one. We took it in turns to read a line. We presented ours to the group. Afterwards, we had a evaluation form to do and then we left.
