Cool by Michael Morpurgo is a very good book in my opinion but at the same time it is a bit depressing because it is about a boy who gets hit by a car and goes into a coma.
The whole moral of the story is that the boy (named Robbie) runs out of the house because his dogs got out and then he gets hit by a car. Nothing will wake him up. They had tried everything they invited his idol in to try to wake him from the coma but nothing would work.
I found this book really enjoyable because it was a really good book and at the end of each page you just weren’t able to put it down because you wanted to know what happens next and if he ever wakes up. The way that the book is written is in 1st person so its as if the book is being written in Robbie’s head and your kind of a little person in his head that can hear everything he is saying. I think that this is the best way to write a book because when you read it, it is really easy to be empathetic towards it because it sounds like your actually saying it.
I would highly recommend this book to others especially people my age because they need to understand things like this and what it could feel like which is good for their empathetic skills. If I had to sum up this book in 10 words it would be...
“Truly fantastic and believable shows good emotion in characters personality.”
